Experiment: Boil Water
Aim: Record the temperature of water as it boils. Method: 1. Label the diagram and then set up the equipment. [don’t let the thermometer touch the beaker]
2. Ask the teacher to check your equipment and diagram. 3. Light the Bunsen then slide it under the tripod. 4. Start your stopwatch and record the temperature in the results table every 30 seconds (half a minute). 5. Turn the Bunsen off. 6. Draw a graph of the temperature and answer the questions. 7. Pack up if the equipment is cool enough. Questions: 1. What was the largest temperature the water reached?
2. How long did it take the water to reach this temperature?
