Lets add a +8 relationship between John and Jane. Click on John's name to select him, then click the Add Relationship button, and a dialog box will open. In the dialog box select Jane from the drop-down list. Now drag the slider towards the right stopping almost at the end, and click the Okay button.

Click on the Plan toolbar icon to switch to the room view. The grid is for placing seats, and Left clicking on any cell will create or delete a seat. By creating seats in this way you can create an arrangement that matches your room.

Click the Generate button to allocate people to seats. Termites will then do it's best to keep everybody happy. It will place people with bad relationships apart and people with good relationships together. At the same time it will float to the front or back of the room people who prefer those locations. And even work around people who have been glued to particular chairs. On average Termites will create around 10,000 seating plans before it finds an optimal one. Let's see you do that with pen-and-paper!
